Judge Goes Viral for Savagely Putting Rioters in Their Place

The Supreme Court bench led by Chief Justice of India (CJI) Surya Kant, along with Justice Joymalya Bagchi, on Monday declined an urgent hearing on the issue of Indigo flight cancellations that have left thousands of passengers stranded at several airports.

During the brief mention, the counsel highlighted the hardship caused by the airline’s sudden and unannounced cancellations stating, “Without giving intimation, the company has cancelled flights. It is a serious issue’’. Today marks the seventh consecutive day of Indigo’s operational disruption.
The Court observed that, since the government has already begun addressing the situation, there is no need for immediate judicial intervention at this stage.
Acknowledging the widespread disruption, CJI Surya Kant observed, "We understand that lakhs of people are stranded at airport. People having urgent work, people in need of urgent health issues...But the Government of India has taken cognizance. Timely action appears to have been taken. Let us see what happens after some time. There is no urgency right now."
