Aryan Khan vs Wankhede Saga Returns: This Time In HC

The Delhi High Court bench of Justice Purushaindra Kumar Kaurav has expressed reservations about the maintainability of IRS officer Sameer Wankhede’s defamation suit against Red Chillies Entertainment, Netflix and others over his alleged defamatory portrayal in the Aryan Khan directed Netflix web-series Bads of Bollywood.

The court questioned how Wankhede could bring the suit in Delhi, and whether any cause of action even arose within the capital. To which it was submitted that since the web series is streamed nationwide including Delhi and memes circulating online target people here, the suit is maintainable.

Not in affirmation of the above contention the court stated "Your plaint is not maintainable. I am rejecting your plaint. Had your case been that look I've been defamed at various places including Delhi and max damage is in Delhi, we would have still considered here"

At this juncture the counsel appearing for Wankhede sought permission to amend the plaint, which was allowed. However, the bench declined to fix a next hearing date, leaving it to the registry to list the matter once amendments are filed.
