Judicial Transparency Boosted: CJI B.R. Gavai Inaugurates Live Streaming at Bombay HC

In a move dedicated to judicial transparency and to expand public access to courtrooms, the Chief Justice of India, B.R. Gavai inaugurated the live streaming of hearings before select benches of the Principal seat of the Bombay High Court.

The Chief Justice of Bombay High Court Alok Aradhe had also indicated that preparations of such an initiative were underway where live streaming of courtroom proceedings will be available to the public at large.

As of now such a facility is only available for the principal seat at Bombay and the streaming of the following 5 benches will be available;

1. Chief Justice Alok Aradhe and Justice Sandeep V Marne (C.R. 46)

2. Justice R P Mohite-Dere and Justice Dr Neela Kedar Gokhale. (C.R. 43)

3. Justice M S Sonak and Justice Jitendra Shantilal Jain (C.R. 40)

4. Justice Ravindra V Ghuge and Justice Gautam Ashwin Ankhad (C.R. 13)

5. Justice A S Gadkari and Justice Rajesh S Patil (C.R. 53)

Along the sidelines, in another move dedicated towards the lawyers & Litigants, the Bombay High Court now will also provide free WI-FI and internet access within its premises to facilitate digital connectivity.

The Bombay High Court now joins other courts such as the Gujarat, Karnataka, Gauhati, Calcutta, Telangana, and Orissa High Courts, which have already made live streaming available to the public through platforms like YouTube.
