Sadguru Whips Up Legal Storm: Pleads SC To Muzzle You tuber

The Isha Foundation, led by spiritual guru Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev, has moved the Supreme Court seeking an injunction against YouTuber Shyam Meera Singh, accusing him of continuing to publish defamatory content despite previous court orders.

The dispute stems from a video Singh posted on February 24 on his YouTube channel titled “Sadhguru EXPOSED: What's happening in Jaggi Vasudev's Ashram”, and subsequently shared on his X (formerly Twitter) account.

In the video, Singh levelled grave allegations, including claims of minor exploitation within the Foundation’s ashram. In response, the Isha Foundation filed a defamation suit against him.

In March, the Delhi High Court directed the removal of the video, describing it as “clickbait” and “based on unverified material.” The Court also passed an interim order restraining Singh from sharing or re-uploading the video.

Despite the High Court’s directions, the Foundation has now alleged that Singh continues to publish disparaging remarks against it and its founder through other channels. Representing the Foundation, Senior Advocate Mukul Rohatgi informed a Supreme Court Bench of Justices Surya Kant and Joymalya Bagchi that Singh has also filed a transfer petition, seeking to shift the ongoing defamation case to Chennai.

Rohatgi argued that the filing of a transfer plea should not entitle Singh to persist in making “damaging allegations.”

The Supreme Court indicated that it may hear the matter on the upcoming Monday.
