Supreme Court's YouTube Channel Restored Following Hack

On September 20, 2024, the Supreme Court of India's official YouTube channel was hacked, leading to the unauthorised streaming of content promoting XRP, a cryptocurrency developed by Ripple Labs. Instead of broadcasting the usual live legal proceedings, a video titled "Brad Garlinghouse: Ripple Responds To The SEC's $2 Billion Fine! XRP PRICE PREDICTION" was displayed on the channel.

Authorities promptly investigated the incident, and the channel was taken down to prevent further unauthorised access or damage. The breach not only posed potential security concerns for the judiciary but also depicted vulnerabilities in the digital infrastructure associated with the Indian legal system.

Thereafter, a notice was issued by the Supreme Court confirming that the official YouTube channel has been fully restored. All technical issues related to the breach have been resolved, and normal operations have resumed. The channel is now back online, with legal proceedings being streamed as usual. The notice assures the public that the channel is fully functional and secure once again.
