Judge Goes Viral for Savagely Putting Rioters in Their Place
On 1st April, 2025, the Supreme Court of India declined YouTuber and podcaster Ranveer Allahbadia’s request to release his passport, stating it would consider his plea after the ongoing investigation into his controversial remarks is completed.
Allahbadia, who is facing multiple FIRs for allegedly making distasteful comments about parents and sex on the now-deleted YouTube show India's Got Latent, had sought modification of the condition requiring him to deposit his passport, arguing it affected his livelihood. He also assured the court that he would maintain decency in his content.
The Maharashtra Cyber Police, Mumbai Police, and Guwahati Police are currently investigating the matter. Solicitor General Tushar Mehta informed the court that the probe would be completed within two weeks.
Meanwhile, the Supreme Court extended its interim protection from arrest for Allahbadia in cases filed against him in Guwahati, Mumbai, and Jaipur.
