A motion seeking the impeachment of Justice Shekhar Kumar Yadav, Judge of the Allahabad High Court, has been submitted today to the Secretary General of Rajya Sabha.

The impeachment motion of Justice Yadav arises out of the speech delivered by him at an event organised by the Vishwa Hindu Parishad at Prayagraj, which contained a statement that the country will be run as per the wishes of the majority, his remarks against the Muslim community, and the use of the slur "Kathmulla."

The impeachment motion was moved, alleging that the speech of Justice Yadav was "inflammatory, prejudiced, and directly targeted minority communities." The motion was signed by 55 Rajya Sabha MPs, which fulfils the requirement to move an impeachment motion.

The impeachment motion against Justice Yadav comes immediately after the Supreme Court requested a report from the Allahabad High Court regarding his speech.
