Stand up Comic Kunal kamra once again found himself at the centre of controversy as he approaches The Bombay High Court to quash the FIR registered against him over alleged objectionable remarks about Maharashtra Deputy CM Eknath Shinde during his stand-up special ‘Naya Bharat’.
On March 24, the Khar police filed a case against Kamra following a complaint by Shiv Sena MLA Murji Patel, alleging that Kamra referred to Shinde as a 'gaddar' (traitor).
On March 28, 2025, the Madras High Court granted Transit Anticipatory Bail till April 7, 2025 to Kunal Kamra
Adding to the drama, Kamra had written to the Mumbai Police with a request to record his statement through video conferencing, after skipping the third consecutive summons issued on April 2, 2025.
The bench of Justice Sarang V Kotwal and Justice Shriram M Modak is set to hear the plea on April 8, 2025.
