Judge Goes Viral for Savagely Putting Rioters in Their Place
The Supreme Court bench of Justice Sanjay Karol and Justice Prashant Kumar Mishra has cancelled the bail granted to two-time Olympic medallist Sushil Kumar and directed the wrestler to surrender within one week.
In May 2021, wrestler Kumar was arrested in connection with the murder of 27-year-old former junior champion wrestler Sagar Dhankar at Delhi’s Chhatrasal Stadium.
The Delhi High Court granted bail to the wrestler in March 2025 while observing that in the three years since the trial began, only 30 out of 186 prosecution witnesses had been examined.
However, aggrieved by the same, Ashok Dhandkad, the father of the victim, approached the Supreme Court to challenge the bail, alleging witness intimidation. He claimed that during a previous interim bail, Kumar had threatened a key witness.
