Judge Goes Viral for Savagely Putting Rioters in Their Place

In a significant turn of events, Chief Justice of India (CJI) BR Gavai has recused himself from adjudicating a plea by Justice Yashwant Varma of the Allahabad High Court. Justice Varma’s plea challenges a committee's report that found him culpable in relation to a substantial amount of unaccounted cash discovered at his residence in Delhi.

Senior Advocate Kapil Sibal, representing Justice Varma, urged for an immediate listing of the matter, emphasizing its constitutional implications. However, CJI Gavai clarified that "It will not be possible for me to take up this matter because I was also part of the committee. We will list it.”
The Central Government is reportedly preparing to initiate impeachment proceedings against Justice Yashwant Varma, a judge of the Allahabad High Court. In his legal plea, Justice Varma contends that the previous recommendation for his removal by former Chief Justice Sanjiv Khanna was unconstitutional.
He challenges the in-house inquiry procedures, claiming they lack the necessary legal safeguards as stipulated by the Judges (Inquiry) Act of 1968.
