YouTuber Ranveer Allahabadia, widely known as Beer Biceps, has approached the Supreme Court seeking relief from multiple FIRs filed against him in various states on charges of obscenity. The complaints stem from statements he made during the India Got Latent show.
Advocate Dr. Abhinav Chandrachud mentioned the matter before Chief Justice of India (CJI) Sanjiv Khanna, highlighting that the petition had been filed under Article 32 of the Constitution. However, CJI Khanna noted that a hearing date had already been assigned for the petition. Despite Chandrachud’s concerns about the possibility of coercive action by the Assam Police, CJI Khanna refrained from making any additional remarks, stating that he does not permit oral mentionings.
Currently, FIRs have been lodged by both the Maharashtra Police and Assam Police following a massive public uproar after Allahabadia’s remarks went viral on social media. In response to the backlash, he later issued a public apology, acknowledging that his comments were inappropriate.
Notably, in 2024, Allahabadia was honored with the Disruptor of the Year award at the National Creators Award ceremony, where he was felicitated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
