Judge Goes Viral for Savagely Putting Rioters in Their Place

The Delhi High Court on Tuesday directed that the X account of the Cockroach Janata Party be restored, giving relief to its founder, Abhijit Dipke. Justice Swarana Kanta Sharma passed the order after observing that the reason for blocking the account no longer exists, and therefore there was no justification to continue the restriction.

Dipke had approached the High Court challenging the blocking of the party’s X account. During the hearing, Solicitor General of India Tushar Mehta, appearing for the Union Government, told the Court that the account had been blocked because its posts could create confusion and unrest among students and parents before the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET).
“The primary concern of the Union Govt which led to blocking of party’s account, was that their posts can lead to chaos among students and parents during the NEET exam.”
After considering this submission, the Court noted that the situation referred to by the Union Government no longer exists because the NEET examination has already concluded.
Justice Sharma observed that the main reason for continuing the restriction had therefore come to an end and directed that the Cockroach Janata Party’s X account be unblocked.
