In Remembrance of Justice Dr. S. Radhakrishnan

The legal fraternity mourns the passing of Justice Dr. S. Radhakrishnan, who left us on 28th January 2025. A distinguished jurist, esteemed mentor, and compassionate humanitarian, his profound contributions to the judiciary and legal education have left an enduring impact, creating a void that will be deeply felt.

Justice Radhakrishnan was known for his scholarly acumen, soft-spoken demeanor, and unwavering commitment to justice. His tenure on the Bench was marked by fairness, a pro-poor approach, and a deep understanding of constitutional and administrative law. His graceful approach in court, support for junior advocates, and infectious energy made him an inspiration to many in the legal fraternity.

Senior Advocate Rajiv Chavan paid tribute, stating, “Justice Radhakrishnan was a humane, kind-hearted and pro-poor judge. Always pleasant in the courtroom & encouraged junior lawyers to argue. He regularly visited lawfultalks.net and appreciated the efforts made to help the legal community stay informed about the latest legal news.”

His former junior, Advocate Rui Rodriguez, expressed his grief, saying, “Kind-hearted, scholarly, soft-spoken & a gentleman to the core & above all a towering human being, Justice Radhakrishnan was a role model for many of us in multiple ways. A loss so personal & a void so profound that it is extremely hard to overcome.”

Beyond his judicial career, Justice Radhakrishnan served as the Chairman of the Maharashtra Administrative Tribunal and was a member of the Governing Board of the Kaivalyadhama Yoga Institute and Research Center. His deep academic interests led him to pursue a Ph.D. in Human Rights, further solidifying his commitment to justice and human dignity.

A man of mental patience, enthusiasm, and jolly spirit, he was deeply admired for his unwavering support of juniors and graceful approach to the law. His presence in the courtroom and beyond will be deeply missed.
