Allahabad HC Sets Aside Afzal Ansari's Conviction, Allows Him to Continue as MP
“In exercise of the powers conferred under clause (1) of Article 224 of the Constitution of India, the President of India is pleased to appoint Shri Gautam Ashwin Ankhad and Shri Mahendra Madhavrao Nerlikar as Additional Judges of the Bombay High Court. They shall assume office in order of seniority for a term of two years from the date they take charge of their respective posts’’.
Prior to their elevation, both appointees were practising advocates at the Bombay High Court.
Shri Gautam Ashwin Ankhad enjoys a strong reputation in the legal fraternity for both his personal and professional competence. He has a substantial and well-regarded legal practice, with a notable focus on commercial, contract, and arbitration law. His practice is reflected in 56 reported judgments in matters where he appeared and argued in depth.
Shri Mahendra Madhavrao Nerlikar
Shri Mahendra Madhavrao Nerlikar also commands personal and professional integrity , with no adverse material noted in relation to his personal or professional conduct. With over two decades of practice at the Bar, his experience spans a wide range of legal areas including civil, criminal, constitutional, labour, and service law. He has previously held the positions of Assistant Government Pleader and Additional Public Prosecutor, representing the Government of Maharashtra
