“Sex, Secret Videos, Blackmail: Allahabad High Court Orders Statewide Crackdown!”

The Allahabad High Court has directed the Uttar Pradesh Police to step up action against gangs that allegedly use women to trap men and extort money. A Division Bench of Justice JJ Munir and Justice Tarun Saxena observed that cases of this nature reveal “a very pernicious state of affairs in society.”

Court Calls It Very Serious:

The Court underscored the seriousness of the issue and said:

“This is a very serious matter. While we accept the petitioners prayer to withdraw this writ petition we are of opinion, on our own motion, that it requires thorough investigation to be undertaken by the Inspector General of Police of the Meerut Zone. He shall alert the entire district police chiefs in the zone to maintain strict vigil, if a gang of this kind is operating, or other gangs are also operating, blackmailing innocent people by utilising women for springing a honey trap, or in some other way, bringing about the same results. If offences like these are permitted to continue, it would become difficult to live in a decent world.”

The proceedings began with a First Information Report filed by the Bijnor police. According to the complaint, the victim alleged that after a sexual encounter with a woman at a hotel, he was blackmailed by the accused. The woman purportedly recorded video clips and, along with others, demanded between ₹8–10 lakh to suppress the matter. The complainant then went to the police, which led to the registration of the FIR.

Plea to Quash Rejected:

Subsequently, the accused approached the High Court to get the case quashed.

However, the Bench refused to consider the plea, emphasizing that the allegations needed thorough investigation. The judges directed the Inspector General of Police, Meerut Zone, to oversee the probe and instructed district police chiefs to remain vigilant against such gangs.

The Court’s order stated: “He shall alert the entire district police chiefs in the zone to maintain strict vigil, if a gang of this kind is operating, or other gangs are also operating, blackmailing innocent people by utilising women for springing a honey trap, or in some other way, bringing about the same results.”

“This petition is dismissed as withdrawn, but not without the directions that we have made above.”

The Court ordered that its ruling be communicated to the Director General of Police, the Inspector General of Police of Meerut Zone, and the Additional Chief Secretary (Home), Government of Uttar Pradesh, Lucknow.
