Allahabad HC Sets Aside Afzal Ansari's Conviction, Allows Him to Continue as MP
The Karnataka High Court is currently deliberating on the Maintainability of a petition filed by a YouTube news channel, 'Kudla Rampage,' in connection with the Dharmasthala burial case. The plea challenges an ex-parte interim order that restrains media platforms from publishing any alleged defamatory content against the family managing the Sri Manjunathaswamy temple and the temple itself.
The trial court had on July 18 issued an ex-parte interim injunction order directing the blocking of over 300 media outlets and thousands of URLs said to carry defamatory content. The order was issued in favor of Harshendra Kumar D, brother of Dharmasthala Dharmadhikari Veerendra Heggade, who had approached the court alleging that the content published was damaging and defamatory.
Justice Nagaprasanna before whom the matter is being contested has indicated that the decision on this procedural issue is likely to be pronounced by Friday.
